Biosecurity

Agricultural Biosecurity Program

Eligible agricultural organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for sector-level initiatives that will increase awareness and uptake of biosecurity measures or otherwise improve the level of biosecurity in their industry across the province.

Farm Biosecurity Program

Poultry producers will be able to identify their current level of biosecurity and develop plans to adopt new and/or additional measures through educational workshops and a self-assessment exercise to develop an action plan. Producers can apply for cost-share opportunities to implement their biosecurity projects based on their action plan.


Business Development

Agricultural Management Institute (AMI)

AMI provides funding to agriculture organizations, farm families, farm managers, and farm business advisors for projects that develop business management tools, information, resources, and training. AMI also links producers to the resources that are available and conducts research that can be shared with the industry.

Business Development for Farm Businesses

Farmers and farm families start by attending the Growing Your Farm Profits workshop. The program incorporates self-assessment and action plan development with a range of cost-share advisory services and skills development opportunities to help producers reach their farm business goals.

Business Development Project for Food and Beverage Processors

The Business Development Project supports Ontario's food and beverage industry by encouraging the adoption of best management practices. The project will conduct an assessment of the current gaps and strengths; build awareness, identify needs, understand and address business opportunities and threats; develop a sector plan that will lead to the adoption of best management practices, and; develop, test and validate tools and resources to assist food and beverage processors. The project is administered by the Alliance of Ontario Food Processors.


Environment and Climate Change

The Canada-Ontario Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) helps producers assess their farm's environmental strengths and weaknesses. Through workshops producers will assess their needs and develop an action plan. Farmers can apply for cost-share opportunities to implement projects identified in their EFP action plans. Canada-Ontario Farm Stewardship Program - Growing Forward offers cost-share opportunities to assist farmers in implementing environmental improvement projects identified in their EFP action plans

Environmental Stewardship Project for the Food and Beverage Industry

The Environmental Stewardship Project supports the establishment and organizational development of an Ontario Food Industry Environmental Coalition (OFIEC). OFIEC is a coalition of food industry associations representing Ontario's food and beverage processing and input supply sectors. It provides a "one window" access point between government and Ontario's food industry for environment and energy issues. OFIEC will be developing tools, resources and risk assessment approaches, as well as conducting environmental benchmarking for the food industry. The project is administered by OFIEC and the Alliance of Ontario Food Processors.


Food Safety and Traceability

Food Safety and Traceability Education (FSTE) allows agri-food organizations to apply for cost-shared funding to provide Ontario food producers and processors with food safety and/or traceability education and outreach. The program is no longer accepting applications. The Agriculture Adaptation Council delivers this program.

Food Safety and Traceability Initiative (FSTI) provides producers and individual businesses funding directly for costs associated with implementation of food safety practices and traceability systems. Producers must attend an information session. Currently this program is closed.

Agri-Technology Commercialization Centre (ATCC) assists entrepreneurs, researchers and existing businesses to bring innovative ideas to market through a single access point for specialized services.

The Farm Innovation Program is open to non-supply managed farm organizations and to individual farmers in partnership with commodity associations. The program will provide funding for applied research projects and on-farm demonstration projects that showcase innovative new on-farm technologies. The Farm Innovation Program is delivered by the Agricultural Adaptation Council.
