Meat Processor Expanding In Peterborough - McGuinty Government Supports Agri-Food Industry, Creates 22 Jobs

NEWS

August 9, 2011

Ontario is helping a Peterborough food processor expand its production of organic chicken products to become more competitive, increase sales and support local farmers.

With support from Ontario's Rural Economic Development Program, Yorkshire Valley Farms, will establish a new organic chicken packaging and labelling line. This will allow them to:

  • increase production capacity by 400 per cent
  • create up to eight new jobs for Peterborough-area farmers
  • create up to 14 jobs at its Peterborough production facility and a Brampton co-packaging facility

A strong agri-food industry is part of the McGuinty government's plan to create jobs and opportunities that will grow the province's economy.
