The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is not currently accepting applications to the Rural Economic Development (RED) Program.

There has been a strong demand for the Rural Economic Development (RED) Program, reflecting the benefits of this initiative for the food and agriculture sectors, rural economies and Ontario families.

RED Videos

EMC Ranpro - EMC, the Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium, is a networking group for Ontario companies in the manufacturing sector. It acts as an open forum for companies to share better business practices and ideas. The video shows EMC's impact on RanPro, a manufacturer of 'extreme conditions protective apparel'. EMC received close to two-million dollars in support through RED.

Ensyn Biomass - The County of Renfrew and the Ensyn Corporation have formed a unique partnership to create 'green energy' from wood waste. Ensyn takes advantage of Renfrew's large, competitive forestry industry by turning its waste product into bio-fuels and other bio-products.

Fusion Youth Centre - The Town of Ingersoll transformed a previously an abandoned school into a recreation center for youth 12 to 18. The center has over 400 youth members that attend regularly, including onsite services such as a daycare and Victorian Order of Nurses.

Health Kick Huron - Huron East-Seaforth has established the 'Health Kick Huron' plan to address the health care recruitment shortfalls experienced by many rural communities. The plan has three main components: Youth Engagement, Skill Development and Recruitment.

Quinte Development Project - A three way partnership between the Quinte Economic Development Commission, Loyalist College, and local manufacturers has resulted in a very successful rural plan. The project focuses on attracting and retaining companies in the technology and industrial sectors, through training rebates offered through Loyalist College and internship funding.
